Welcome back to Recipe Wednesday; another avenue to promote your very best content, this time in the form of your most favorite recipes on your blog. Each Wednesday when you visit HLB you’ll find the theme for the newest recipe round up.
Some weeks our themes read like cookbook chapters, spotlight ingredients or flavors, or simply request the best recipe for a certain situation. Find an appropriate recipe from your blog archives to fit the theme and add to the collection. Or be inspired to create a new theme-friendly dish worth posting about before next Wednesday.
Each week we feature 20 fantastic recipes from our HLB Members [learn how to become a Member here: HLB Membership How-To,] giving even more exposure to some of the best content you’ve shared from your own kitchen. Let’s get to it, shall we?
Today we’re celebrating National Grapefruit Month with a collection of citruspectacular dishes! Here are some of our favorite recipes from around the HLB community to add to your meal plan this month:
Broiler Grapefruit with Brown Sugar from Gettin’ My Healthy On // Make breakfast a little sweeter by sprinkling brown sugar on top of grapefruit halves and broiling until you have a bubbling and warm bowl of citrus!
Rosemary Infused Grapefruit & Kale Salad from The Glowing Fridge // This can and should be enjoyed throughout any season, even winter. A good salad with all the right components can turn your day around. Or is that just me?! It needs to have texture, be crunchy, FULL of flavor, satiating, satisfying, super fresh and be accompanied by a perfectly paired dressing.
Perfectly Tart Ruby Red Grapefruit Smoothie from A Cup of Catherine // This refreshing and tart Ruby Red Grapefruit Smoothie is perfect for Spring. Fresh citrus, ground turmeric, and a hidden vegetable are just the boost you need to get through allergy season!
Grapefruit Paloma Cocktail from The Lemon Bowl // This traditional Mexican cocktail is made with fresh grapefruit juice and tequila. My version has a subtle kick of heat from a chili-infused simple syrup.
Rosemary Grapefruit White Wine Spritzer from Modern Hippie Habits // When it comes to cocktails I want them to be fresh, easy, and refreshing- preferably with ingredients I already have on hand. This Rosemary-Grapefruit White Wine Spritzer checks off all of those boxes. To make these drinks all I had to do was pluck a couple springs of rosemary from my (indoor) shrub, pull out one of my go-to breakfast grapefruits, and pop open my often-overflowing fridge for some wine!
Vegan Grapefruit Avocado Salad from Balanced Babe // This vegan grapefruit avocado salad is seriously a weight loss warrior. Not only does grapefruit have studies that discuss their weight loss support potential, the pine nuts in this bad boy do too…This salad is also nutritionally balanced since it has levels of healthy fats (from the pine nuts and olive oil), protein, and of course leafy greens.
Grapefruit-Walnut Snack Cake from The Pajama Chef // Brighten up your Valentine’s Day celebration with this refreshing Grapefruit-Walnut Sheet Cake! It’s even frosted too!
Chicken and Grapefruit Quinoa Salad from Amee’s Savory Dish // Use one saucepan to make this filling, refreshing salad packed with nourishing goodness.
Ruby Red Grapefruit Bars from Parkesdale Blog // Now, it’s not that I like grapefruit better than oranges, but there is just something about a sweet and tangy Ruby Red Grapefruit. You just don’t know what it’s going to taste like. I mean, you do, but until that segment of grapefruit hits your tongue, it’s almost like a game of chance.
Vegan Grapefruit Poppyseed Muffins from Dietitian Debbie Dishes // These muffins aren’t super sweet on their own so if you want a healthier version, I would leave off the glaze. I left the glaze off of half the batch and just sprinkled some coconut on top before baking. (The coconut toasts in the oven as the muffin bakes and looks so pretty when finished!) Note that the glaze tastes best on the muffins the day you add it as it will start to soak into the muffin after sitting for a day.
Grapefruit + Avocado Bowls from Iowa Girl Eats // Grapefruit + Avocado Bowls are fresh and healthy, with a delicious and addicting, easy walnut topping!
Low Sugar Pink Grapefruit Green Smoothie from My Fresh Perspective // This lower-sugar smoothie is a delightfully refreshing breakfast or snack, perfect on those days when you need an extra boost of energy and greens.
Baby Kale Grapefruit Pomegranate Salad from Delightful Repast // This is so simple, a very short recipe. The three simple ingredients mingle their contrasting colors, tastes and textures in the bowl with a splash of good olive oil cut with the juice captured when dicing the grapefruit.
Blueberry and Grapefruit Porridge with Flaxseed and Hemp Seed Mix from Be Healthy Now // A delicious and healthy breakfast for the weekend. You can experiment with different types of fruits, so you could have an apple and blueberries or any other fruit combinations.
Spicy Jalapeno Grapefruit Margarita from Eat Teach Blog // Fresh, sweet grapefruit puree, lime juice and jalapeno-infused tequila make these Spicy Grapefruit Jalapeno Margaritas a super summery delight.
Grapefruit and Cilantro Deconstructed Guacamole from We’re Talking About Food // Don’t steer away from this tart and often sour fruit. Grapefruit is actually super good for you, especially during the winter months when it’s in season. Benefits of eating grapefruit include: aids in weight loss, lowers cholesterol, and quenches thirst.
Creamy Pink Grapefruit Spritzer from Eating Chalk // I went with a mocktail, but let’s be real, a little vanilla vodka would go perfectly in here.
Broiled Grapefruit Crumble from Britt’s Blurbs // Broiled grapefruit crumble has a clean crumble topping that adds a fun touch to traditional broiled grapefruit which makes it a more complete, healthy breakfast option!
Ruby Red Grapefruit Mimosas from Kahakai Kitchen // Although I like a classic mimosa, sometimes it is fun to mix it up a little so I decided to make Ruby Red Grapefruit Mimosas. They aren’t as sweet as the orange juice version (which I like as it makes them more refreshing), but the citrus liqueur adds some sweetness and you could add simple syrup if you wanted too.
Grapefruit Sandwich Cookies from Eat Run Read // These cookies were the perfect end to a lemony limey meal. They’re just grapefruit-y enough – you can taste the tang, but are not overwhelmed by it. Plus they’re pretty and pink (or any color actually) and you can cut them into any shapes you want.
Grapefruit Sangarita from Dash of Evans // Can’t decide between sangria and a margarita? Don’t worry, I’ve combined them for you! Nice and refreshing!
Minted Grapefruit Juice from The Honour System // The result was refreshment at it’s best. Let’s start with the colour. The most delicate, pale pink you could imagine. I’m a lover of pink and died a little over this juice. So pretty. Like a juice for a princess. Sigh. It’s a delightful juice, packed with nutrition.
