What’s your name, blog name, and how did you create your blog title?
My name is Rebecca Rose Rose. My blog’s name is Rosey Rebecca. When I first started my blog in 2009 I had no idea that anyone would ever read it. Rosey Rebecca was one of my old AOL username and it just kind of stuck. In 2016, I married my husband and took his last name, which is also Rose. Hence Rebecca Rose Rose. Even though my first name is Rebecca, most people on the Internet call me Rosey. I even receive packages with ‘Rosey’ on the shipping label! The tagline of my blog is ‘Healthy Living in a World Full of Food’ but over the years my blog has morphed from a healthy living food blog to more of an everything blog and I’m pretty OK with that!
What can a new visitor expect to find from your blog?
Fun, relatable musings about my day-to-day life as a vegetarian foodie living in Asheville, NC. In addition, I talk openly and honestly about my struggles with mental illness and other life challenges, like losing my father seven years ago when I was only 24 and he was only 61.
What is one lesson you’ve learned about blogging since you first started your website?
You have to love doing it. If it feels like a chore, you’re going to stress out and get burned out pretty easily. I’ve taken many breaks but something always leads me back to blogging.
What is your favorite way to get moving, burn calories and energy, and get your exercise-on?
I really love strength training, spin class and yoga. Lifting heavy weights is so empowering and has made me confident in all aspects of my life. Spinning is a great energy release and yoga grounds me when I’m really anxious or blah.
If you could live any place for the rest of your life, where would it be and why?
This is a tough one. I’ve lived in Asheville for over three years now and I don’t see myself ever leaving because I love these mountains and the community so much! However sometimes I really miss my home state of New York! And I’ve always envisioned myself living in Vermont. Can I just live in three places at once please!?
Do you ever experience days when you don’t want to make healthy choices? How do you motivate yourself when you really need it?
I think even the healthiest people ever face this dilemma from time to time. I try not to beat myself up and listen to my body on days like these. Sometimes taking a rest day is the best possible solution. I also don’t believe in restrictive diets. If I want a piece of chocolate cake, I’m going to eat one. I motivate myself by trying to remember my reasons for trying to live a healthful life but remind myself that living healthfully means enjoying life even if it means forgoing the kale smoothie and quinoa for pizza and cake from time to time.
What is one internet trend you are ready see end for the rest of time?
The follow/unfollow game on Instagram. This is probably my biggest pet peeve. I just can’t fathom why people think this is a good idea. Don’t follow me and then immediately unfollow when I follow you back. I’m all about building community over my follower number. I want to be your friend, not your fan! End rant!
