Friday Feature: Linda Edwards of Leaf and Nectar

FridayFeatures3In our weekly Friday Feature, we share a short interview with one of the fantastic members of Take the time to get to know your co-members, pick up tips and tricks, blogging know-how, and recommendations from your fellow bloggers. If you’re an HLB member and haven’t gotten your interview email yet, don’t worry, you will in time! We’re working our way through a list of 2,000+ members’ blogs at random.

What’s your name, blog name, and how did you create your blog title?

My name is Linda Edwards and I’m the author of Leaf and Nectar.

I came up with that name because so much of what I write about that helps us live a healthier lifestyle starts with a leaf of a plant. The nutrition that we extract from those plants is where the nectar part comes in.

How would you describe your blogging style?

I would describe my blogging style as minimalistic with splashes of color.

What is your tagline and why?

“Fight Disease And Stay Alive!” is Leaf and Nectar’s tagline.

My husband died from esophageal cancer four years ago. We tried everything from conventional medicine to all natural alternatives when it metastasized. Being by his side through it all, and seeing what he went through, I ask myself today, “What if I get cancer, what type of treatment would I choose?” Then better yet, “How can I keep from getting cancer to begin with?” That’s how Leaf and Nectar came to be. To share my knowledge and research from our experiences.

What daily health to-do is easiest for you to complete? Which is the one you struggle with every single day?

I follow a pretty healthy lifestyle by exercising at least three times a week and implement an anti-inflammatory diet. However, what I struggle the most with is drinking enough water.

What’s one goal you’re working towards right now?

I’ve started a new web design business called Web Initiator and my current goal is to grow it to where I can retire from my full time job in three years. Ultimately, it is so I can dedicate a lot more time for Leaf and Nectar.

What are some of your favorite blogging tools?

AppSumo is my favorite source for blogging tools that are at a discount. I look forward to their emails to see what kind of deal they are offering. For instance, I got a great deal on a lifetime membership for Short Pixel plug-in. It is an invaluable tool that compresses the images for my blog and does it beautifully.

What is something about you that would shock us?

I have been working at the American Red Cross Biomedical Services as a Phlebotomist for 30 years. I started with them at age 21, passing out cookies to blood donors. This does not include my volunteer time with them since I was 16 years old!
