In our weekly Friday Feature, we share a short interview with one of the fantastic members of HealthyLivingBlogs.com. Take the time to get to know your co-members, pick up tips and tricks, blogging know-how, and recommendations from your fellow bloggers. If you’re an HLB member and haven’t gotten your interview email yet, don’t worry, you will in time! We’re working our way through a list of 2,000+ members’ blogs at random.
What’s your name, blog name, and how did you create your blog title?
Sharon – The Honour System. I believe that healthy eating is completely up to YOU and The Honour System embodies that. An honour system doesn’t enforce the rules. It leaves you accountable and totally in control of your actions. YOU have the power to make smart choices for yourself. Don’t leave it up to anyone else.
What can a new visitor expect to find from your blog?
Healthy, whole food based snacks, meals and desserts including plenty of gluten free, vegan and non-vegan options.
What is one lesson you’ve learned about blogging since you first started your website?
Comparison is the thief of joy. This seeps into all aspects of life. Don’t compare yourself/your blog/your job/your family to others. Not everything is always as it seems. Focus on YOU.
What is your favorite site to visit to find motivation in your healthy living journey?
Hands down, Oh She Glows. Angela’s incredible blog was the first one I stumbled across and she has a wealth of fabulous recipes and lots of good humour.
What is your favorite way to get moving, burn calories and energy, and get your exercise-on?
I live in beautiful Vancouver, Canada where we are blessed with stunning nature all around us. I enjoy hiking through the trails in Stanley Park. In the winter, when our infamous rain sets in, I head to the gym for fitness classes twice a week. I plan to try yoga this year. I also walk (rain or shine!) to work which is about thirty minutes daily.
Do you ever experience days when you don’t want to make healthy choices? How do you motivate yourself when you really need it?
Of course! I am human after all. To be honest, sometimes having that ice cream cone or going for pizza with the family is EXACTLY what you need. The key is not letting it turn into a binge. Have your treat, truly enjoy it, and slide right back into your healthy routine.
