In our weekly Friday Feature, we share a 5-question interview with one of the fantastic members of HealthyLivingBlogs.com. Take the time to get to know your co-members, pick up tips and tricks, blogging know-how, and recommendations from your fellow bloggers. If you’re an HLB member and haven’t gotten your interview email yet, don’t worry, you will in time! We’re working our way through a list of 2,000+ members’ blogs at random.
What’s your name, blog name, and how did you create your blog title?
Kristin Vrana from FoodFash. My blog was originally “Food: Fashion Meets Function” and it was about food trends (healthy and not-healthy) and how they related to the function and purpose of food. It became quite the mouthful, so I chopped it to “FoodFash”. The thought was also that the new name could open my blog up to more content than just food.
Does FoodFash have a tagline?
Adventure Begins in the Kitchen. I love exploring new places! But even if there isn’t time for travel, I think the easiest way to experience something new is in the kitchen. Whether it be trying a new recipe, cooking method, or ingredient – the possibilities for adventure in the kitchen are endless.
How would you describe your blogging style?
I think my bloggy style is highly visual and “light”. FoodFash has always been my happy space so I try to keep it as positive as I can. After typing that, I probably don’t show enough “real life”. Like… how, after living with my husband and step-daughter, I STRUGGLE to keep the kitchen in order.
What’s one goal you’re working towards right now?
I think my primary goal right now is family and self-care. I’ve turned from a daily blogger to a daily Instagrammer to a barely blogger and weekly Instagrammer. I believe it’s ok to take breaks to figure out who you want to be and where you want to go.
What is your healthy eating philosophy?
My healthy eating philosophy is eat simply at home (mostly protein and veggies) and don’t deny yourself when you’re eating out. And if you know you’re eating out a bunch over a weekend, do green smoothies in the morning before you leave the house.
Spread some blog love – which Healthy Living Blog do you read every single post from?
Gosh, I don’t really read blogs anymore! But I’ve learned a lot from Lee From America. I’ve had similar hormonal struggles and her experience and guidance has been really influential in my life. Fat balls, adaptogens, and Woman Code are my biggest take-aways. I also love Trash Is for Tossers for guidance on living a more sustainable life.
What is something about you that would shock us?
I work in commercial construction! My day job is a preconstruction manager for a large commercial design and construction firm. Preconstruction is project planning and estimating (budgets). And I typically work on $50M to $100M projects. My degree was in Building Construction and I’ve been in the field for over 13 years!
