What’s your name, blog name, and how did you create your blog title?

Hey everyone! I’m Wayne, the founder of Nutrishatives, an evidenced-backed health and nutrition blog. I originally started this website in order help my wife create recipes using nutritional alternatives, hence Nutrishatives, due to her obsession with unhealthy and refined foods.

As recipe development progressed, I wanted to learn and share more ingredients for a healthy lifestyle, rather than just recipes. My idea quickly grew into trying to understand health and nutrition related facts asking “how?” and “why?” in order to make informed decisions for ingredient choices. For example, why specific foods are great for gut health and what mechanisms promote these healthy effects.

Through Nutrishatives, my goal is to provide simple evidence-backed health and nutrition information promoting healthier lifestyle decisions.

What can a new visitor expect to find from your blog?

When a new visitor arrives, you will get prompted to begin your health, nutrition and wellness journey understanding the importance of gut health. From there you will dive into the importance of gut health, how to improve your gut health naturally, and supplements to boost gut health support.

What is one lesson you’ve learned about blogging since you first started your website?

Don’t get distracted by the shiny object. You are going to want to do a million things to improve, content, search engine optimization, website traffic, subscribers, social media, ect that you never complete one task fully. Focus on a goal at a time or find a good team to accomplish more in a shorter amount of time.

What is your favorite way to get moving, burn calories and energy, and get your exercise-on?

I LOVE weightlifting! This provides me the best bang for your buck because I burn calories and build muscle that can burn more calories while I am resting. I love the feeling of accomplishment after a great work out. It also makes me more focused and sharp right after.

Do you ever experience days when you don’t want to make healthy choices? How do you motivate yourself when you really need it?

Always! Who doesn’t? However, since I have been eating healthy for a long time, I understand that it is a craving that will go away. During social settings though, I let loose a little bit, but I understand the choices I am making. The best way to stay motivated to make healthy choices is to remember that your body is a system and the choices you make are the inputs. If you you provide healthy and positive inputs to your body, you are going to get healthy an positive outputs (mood, energy, ect).

If you could live any place for the rest of your life, where would it be and why?

I would have to say San Diego, Ca. You have the beach, city life, mountains and great food all in one area. Did I say delicious and healthy food?

Tell us about your favorite SOMETHING.

One topic I am very passionate about is being financially smart and responsible. A lot of people don’t know what to do with their money, other than spend it on items that don’t provide a meaningful return on investment. We all need to learn how to make our money work for us and not the other way around.
