In our weekly Friday Feature, we share a 5-question interview with one of the fantastic members of HealthyLivingBlogs.com. Take the time to get to know your co-members, pick up tips and tricks, blogging know-how, and recommendations from your fellow bloggers. If you’re an HLB member and haven’t gotten your interview email yet, don’t worry, you will in time! We’re working our way through a list of 2,000+ members’ blogs at random.
1. What’s your name, blog name, and how did you create your blog title?
Jessica Downes of upsanddownes.com.
I wanted to chronicle the ups and downs and inbetweens of my life. It obviously helped that my last name was a rendition of Downs, 🙂
2. Spread some blog love – which Healthy Living Blog do you read every single post from?
Hungry runner girl. Every. Single one
3. What is your healthy eating philosophy?
Balance balance balance!
I will never ever label a food “good or bad. “This is very dangerous and can lead to unhealthy eating habits and perceptions even in boys. I want my children to know that they can eat whatever they want as long as they balance.
4. What daily health to-do is easiest for you to complete? Which is the one you struggle with every single day?
Sleep is a must must must for me. I’m a little ridiculous about sleep, actually. I will go to sleep at 8:30 if I need to. It is very important for me to have continuous and quality nighttime sleep. I do not nap and so I need that recuperation at night given the amount of activity that I do daily. I run daily for at least an hour. I try to do at least 6 miles daily and incorporating that into my routine is actually easier than not doing it. I feel like myself after I run as it enhances my mental and physical health.
5. What’s one goal you’re working towards right now?
I am getting remarried in less than a month (!)so I am focusing on blending my family and remaining healthy emotionally and physically as I continue training for half marathon this and perfecting my running form.
I love love love showing my three boys house strong and capable their mama is. Fitness takes a ton of dedication and I am so glad to be able to model this for my three little boys.
I also hope to have at least one more child so keeping my body physically and mentally healthy is very important in planning its future endeavors 🙂
