In our weekly Friday Feature, we share a 5-question interview with one of the fantastic members of HealthyLivingBlogs.com. Take the time to get to know your co-members, pick up tips and tricks, blogging know-how, and recommendations from your fellow bloggers. If you’re an HLB member and haven’t gotten your interview email yet, don’t worry, you will in time! We’re working our way through a list of 2,000+ members’ blogs at random.
1. What’s your name, blog name, and how did you create your blog title?
My name is Bonnie Lang and my blog name is Bonnie Lang Fitness. Like many fitness professionals out there, when I created my own business I took my name and added the word “fitness” to the end. 😉 My blog used to be called “Life to the Full,” because that’s what I want to do as I inspire people through sharing my fitness, faith and life with others, but ultimately I wanted a site that included a blog but was first and foremost for my business.
2. What can a new visitor expect to find from your blog?
I like to think of my blog as tips, tools, and inspiration to help you live to the full! On my blog, I share workouts, fun recaps from my husband and my outdoor adventures, lifestyle tips to be healthier, and my own processing of the ups and downs of life. I’m pretty open to share the ups and downs of what’s going on!
3. What is one lesson you’ve learned about blogging since you first started your website?
One of the biggest things I’ve learned from blogging is to simply be myself. I took pressure off myself to share creative recipes (not my forte) and to not be afraid to dialogue about my faith and life. I’ve learned to be who I am authentically and the results include a mixture of blog posts and a lot of from-the-heart thoughts. If you’re looking to be a successful blogger (especially financially), I think you have to stick to a bit more of a schedule and be more consistent with your content, but I blog partly to process my life and to share fitness tips and the more myself I can be, the better!
4. What is your favorite way to get moving, burn calories and energy, and get your exercise-on?
I love total body workouts that utilize body weight exercises, kettlebells and the TRX, but I also love more strength-based workouts with barbells. That’s my favorite way to intentionally sweat, but I also love moving outdoors (kayaking, long boarding, rafting).
5. Tell us about your favorite SOMETHING.
One thing I’m passionate about is relying on and being part of a community, and one community I’m excited to be part of is Survive & Thrive Cancer Programs, the non-profit my husband and I started after he was diagnosed with cancer early in our marriage. We work with young adults (20’s and 30’s) and help them rebuild their lives post-cancer via week-long adventure trips and local retreats. Check us out: www.survivethrive.org and spread the word to any young adults who have or have had cancer!
I’m a lover of Podcasts too, and even though I don’t CrossFit, I love GirlsGoneWod, and even though I’m not paleo, I also love the Paleo Women’s Podcast as well as Barbell Shrugged. Check those out, too!
Lastly, just a note – let’s all try to stand and move a little more throughout our days! Less focus on intense exercise and more focus on moving well day to day!
