Hello Healthy Living Blog Family! My name is Courtney and I blog over at Journey of A Dreamer. I write about my adventures in CrossFit, Running, Weight Loss, and balance in healthy living.
Trying to live a healthy life can be hard, especially when you feel like you’re doing it alone. There are many instances when one person in a family is trying to lose weight while the others aren’t. This is tough! On my healthy living journey it has been CRUCIAL to have the support of my family. Here are three fun ways to get your family involved in your Healthy Living journey.
1. Go on family walks! This is a great way to get your whole family out and moving. Walk the dog, let the kids pick which way to go, or even do a scavenger hunt. I usually let my daughter decide which route we want to take and let her explore as we go along.
2. Involve the whole family in your meal planning.
Since I’m the one who does the shopping and cooking it can become monotonous when I make the same meals over again. Giving your family a few healthy options and letting them pick their favorites gives them ownership of their healthy eating, rather than feeling like the food is being shoved down their throats. Also- giving them the ability to chose healthy now will help them chose healthy later (when you aren’t always around!)
3. Try New Activities Together.
Not everyone likes the same kind of activity. It can be easy to get stuck in a rut when it comes to being active. The best thing about involving your whole family into your healthy journey is that you can try new activities together! Whether it is playing a game of football in the back yard or going for a bike ride, healthy activity is better together! So get out there and try new things together. Who knows- You may find a new hobby!
