In our weekly Friday Feature, we share a 5-question interview with one of the fantastic members of HealthyLivingBlogs.com. Take the time to get to know your co-members, pick up tips and tricks, blogging know-how, and recommendations from your fellow bloggers. If you’re an HLB member and haven’t gotten your interview email yet, don’t worry, you will in time! We’re working our way through a list of 2,000+ members’ blogs at random.
My name is Katie and I write a little blog called Lilveggiepatch. The name actually came from an old AIM screen name (remember those?)! And THAT name came from an inside joke involving those little rubber bands that bind together grocery store asparagus and broccoli. I wore them as bracelets (it was high school, no judgments) and jokingly called myself the “lil veggie patch.”
2. What is one lesson you’ve learned about blogging since you first started your website?
Oh, this is a big question! When you’re just starting out, it’s important to get into a routine an figure out what you’re going to write about and when you’re going to do it. But the biggest thing I’ve learned- and this is a lesson that extends to many areas of life- is that it’s okay to evolve. I started off taking pictures of everything I ate, and posting three times a day. Now I rarely document meals and post a couple times a week. It’s OKAY.
3. What is your favorite site to visit to find motivation in your healthy living journey? What do you find from this website?
I love reading the Science and Health sections of the New York Times! I’m such a nerd. But I’m so interested in the way our bodies work, and how the choices we make affect how we feel.
4. What is your favorite way to get moving, burn calories and energy, and get your exercise-on?
I ebb and flow when it comes to exercise. Some weeks I go to the gym five times, while there are weeks when I’m lucky if I get there once. But I love to take long walks. My boyfriend and I take these “adventure walks,” where we ride to the end of a subway line (we live in New York City) and get off and explore a new neighborhood. It’s a great way to learn more about your city!
5. Tell us about your favorite SOMETHING.
I recently got into the show “Revenge” and I am OBSESSED. The drama, the clothes, the Hamptons… so, SO good! I just caught up on last season and am so excited to start this one. Seriously, you guys have to watch it.
