REMINDER: If you’re headed to #HLS12 next month, we’ve been sharing some information you should get familiar with on the weekends here on HLB. And if you haven’t yet signed up to join us in Cambridge, Mass – Good News!! There are still some tickets left if you want to get in on the action!
This year’s Summit is proving to be balls-to-wall amazing. One word I’ve been focused on since day 1 of the HLB-HLS collaboration is COMMUNITY. I’d be wrong to turn a blind eye to some of the less-than-pleasant experiences fellow bloggers and friends have shared in regards to Summits past. [note: these are two of my favorite HLS recaps ever – and the discussion in the comments has been invaluable to me as a summit planner this year]
There’s been a lot of discussion on ways to fight a “cliquey” vibe that we’ve seen pop up in recaps; as well as questions of how to improve in other areas mentioned in the after-Healthy Living Summit surveys Meghann sent out last year. Julie, Meghann and I, are determined to give you a Summit weekend we can be proud of and with the help of Team HLB, the awesome folks on the agenda, our spectacular sponsors, and each of our incredible attendees we know we’re well on our way. I can’t believe we’re less than a month away!!
I’m so thankful to be working with such an awesome team of bloggers to bring a new Summit experience to the weekend this year. Heather M’s been putting in some serious time scheduling and organizing bonus fitness events [details on some of these are being released very soon!] and we’d be lost without Elizabeth’s Boston (wo)manpower in local networking, cocktail party planning, and transportation explanation departments – and she’s got more information in the queue, sharing more Boston-knowledge with us very soon. [By the way, if you haven’t already – consider adding your arrival information to the spreadsheet to find cab sharing pals and T-riding partners.]
Soon we’ll be releasing information on Mini-Mingles being planned for Summit weekend. These are optional events being planned by your fellow bloggers and conference goers designed to get to know one another in a casual, small group setting before large group Summit events kick off. Think a Whole Foods demonstration and hot bar lunch, neighborhood photography walk, and a group outing for froyo or baked goods! There’s even more fun stuff in the works, to boot – so keep your eyes peeled for extra information being released each week! Nervous about meeting new friends? check out Amanda’s post on Meeting Strangers at HLS full of tips to prepare.
I’m also super stoked about all the “let’s blog better!” attitude I’ve seen being chattered about in the community. Every time I read Courtney’s post about Blog Workshopping and think about how awesome Derek’s discussion will be, I get pumped. The same thing happens each time a session highlight is published over on the Summit site. And Rachel’s post “How to be the Last Blogger Anyone Would Expect to Speak at #HLS12” has brought a smile to my face all weekend long.

HEY EVERYONE! The newest episode of GiGi Eats Celebrities will be hitting the web (aka: the site, the channel, the facebook, and of course @dubagee) on July 24th. This episode is the 11th installment of the first season of the GiGi Eats Celebrities web series! The season finale is quickly approaching too but no need to mention that just yet! Tomorrow’s episode is all about the insanely ridiculous Red Bull and Adderall diet. I can assure that it’s “not hot” at all. Stay tuned as to why, although I am sure you’re all smart enough to know why. If you want a quick laugh, you definitely should stay tuned.
A little about me: I am a hungry comedic TV/ Web Host and Nutritionist, trying to educate and entertain all at the same time! Every other week I have been and will continue to, jump into pools of maple syrup, rub pork fat all over my body, make baby-food cupcakes, work the pole, chop cabbages, suck on lollipops, and oh so much more! I have also recently released a “spin-off” web series called GiGi Eats Groceries, all about the healthy and not so healthy foods to buy at the grocery store! For more information on that, hit up this video: http://gigieatscelebrities.com/2012/06/21/gigi-eats-celebrities-added-bonus/
Hope you all join me and help me spread the world! I am completely stoked to be apart of Healthy Living Blogs, after all, without our health, we would have nothing! Now go put on your sneakers and take a walk!

Love chocolate, but don’t love the poor nutrition stats? Now, there’s a healthy solution!
Navitas Naturals Cacao Powder is a Mayan Superfood that packs quite a nutritional punch. Navitas Naturals states that,
“Cacao has been enjoyed for its healthful and invigorating properties in South American cultures for thousands of years. The bean of the cacao plant is the nutritional and flavorful source for all chocolate and cocoa products. Cacao contains a naturally rich supply of antioxidants and is a good source of dietary fiber.” Cacao Powder can be used a variety of ways in the kitchen: desserts, sauces, spreads, smoothies, and beverages.

I’m glad to see that my recap last year was so helpful to you. Even though there were aspects I didn’t like, I loved my time and experience with the summit. I had a blast with all of my friends.
Wish I could go this year. Little baby is getting in the way
