1. What’s your name, blog name, and how did you create your blog title?

My name is Blakely and my blog’s name is “The Husky Life.” I came up with the title because my dog Booker is a Siberian Husky and he teaches me a little bit about life everyday.

2. What’s one goal you’re currently working towards?

Right now I am working on learning more about different forms of fitness and eating cleaner. After a year full of injuries, I’ve found that I can’t rely on running alone to keep me fit. I’ve tried to focus on new forms of exercise as a way to keep my body not only in shape, but injury-free. I’m also working on keeping my diet clean while starting a new job, which is tough with all of the office goodies around.

3. Do you have days when you just don’t feel like eating healthy, cooking, or exercising?

YES!!! Not so much with exercise because I try to do things I enjoy, but eating healthy and cooking… absolutely. When I feel like eating something bad, I always try to balance it with something good. If I want pizza, I eat pizza, but I always include a salad. For me, one bad thing requires one green thing to balance out the scale.

4. What is something you’ve learned recently that you found interesting?

That you can train for a marathon by only running 3 days a week. My friend sent me an article about the technique from Runner’s World and I fully intend on trying the 3-day a week training plan for my next marathon in January of 2013.

5. What is your tag line and why?

“Run like a dog.” I said before that I learn a lot of things from my dog Booker. One of them is to enjoy exercise. Not once have I ever asked Booker to go on a run and he has turned me down or acted upset about it. Running is literally his favorite thing to do. I think exercise becomes a lot more enjoyable when you find something you like, rather then when the only reason you do it is to get skinny.

6. How would you describe your blogging style?

Very casual. I rarely plan out my posts and usually just type what comes to mind (usually my workout or the dinner I just made). I also try to be honest and admit when I’m tired or having a bad day.

Blakely, I love your tag line! I think we can learn a lot from our dogs, especially when it comes to exercise. The more fun it is, the more likely we will stick with it. It’s taken a while, but I’m starting to learn that myself!

    Congrats on being featured today!

Heather, you stated, ” For me, one bad thing requires one green thing to balance out the scale.” Excellent idea because it is extremely difficult to eat 100% healthy 100% of the time. I like to have one cheat meal a week or every two weeks depending on my weight goal. Thanks for sharing your ideas.
