Being Active in Nature Makes Kids Healthier

The National Environmental Education Foundation (NEEF) is a nonprofit foundation advances environmental knowledge by working with trusted professional and other leaders to solve everyday environmental challenges.  NEEF got in touch with us to share this infographic on Children and Nature.  May is not only Physical Fitness month, it is a time when kids as well as families are thinking about out-of-school time and summer.

One thing I know for sure: the best ideas I get for how I am spending my time often come from the blogs in this wonderful community.

I’d love to know what ways do you plan to spend time out in nature this month?  With yourself, with your friends, with your family – I’m asking for it all!  What are your favorite ways to be active outside?

Let’s fill the comments with a list of our own creative ideas and experiences to use a resource for us all!

Just saw this really cool chalk photo idea and felt inspired to find a box of colored sidewalk chalk STAT. http://www.theletter4.com/2012/05/another-chalk-photo.html

Last year my friend Kelsey planned me a KILLER Hopscotch course for a circuit workout of wonders – i’d love to build one of these for me and my running buddy to do after our evening runs:

i love this infographic & i’m glad you guys decided to share it. this topic is near & dear to my heart thanks to my gardening project for my dissertation. one of our aims was to lead activities – not just gardening – that would help children learn to enjoy being active outside!

their favorites by the end of summer? water balloon fights, drip drip drop, and hula hooping!
