Stanford sleep expert Rafael Pelayo is currently taking questions via Twitter about sleep disorders and how to ‘spring forward’ for daylight-saving time without feeling fatigued. Submit your questions for Dr. Pelayo on Twitter using the hashtag #AskSUMed or post them in the comments section on this blog post.  Questions will be collected until Feb. 29 at 5 p.m.

FantFriClair at Finding Clairity started an AWESOME new series on her blog,”Fantasy Fridays.”  Every Friday she post a healthy recipe she’s created from a food that is featured in a book, movie, or on television. For the first week, she posted vegan kedgeree from Downton Abbey, and for the second week, she posted strawberries ‘n’ cream grits from The Help.  We love her creative spin on recipe inspiration!

Be sure to check out Back to Her Roots today, where you’ll find the Back to Her Roots Cook for the Cure Raffle to raise funds for breast cancer research. Your donations to this cause enter you into the raffle at a chance to win a KitchenAid Mixer, cases of Chobani, a gift pack from Bob’s Red Mill and gift cards from Williams Sonoma, Crate and Barrel and Whole Foods! All funds benefit the Avon Cancer Crusade and help support Cassie’s fundraising efforts for the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer, which she’s doing this June (walking 39.3 miles in two days).

 

 

 

without bordersCheck out Without Borders.  Stephanie ran the 2010 Chicago Marathon in memory of the 3 babies she lost in different pregnancies.  Stephanie and her husband are now adopting a baby from Ethiopia!
They need to raise $15,000 more to bring their baby home so Stephanie is holding the Race Without Borders 5k/10k on April 21st.  It’s “without borders” because you can run it anywhere!  So sign up, raise money, change a life.

The virtual run will be on Saturday, February 11 at 9 a.m. MST.

  • Mark your calendars
  • Print out a running bib and pin it to your shirt
  • Gather your friends, your running club members, your families
  • If it’s wet where you are, “laminate” your bib with postage tape and punch holes in it
  • If that time doesn’t work, go when you can
  • GO. Run as far and as long as you want. Walk, hike, cycle, rollerblade if you don’t want to or can’t run.

  • Keep it simple. Just run with Sherry on your minds and hearts.
