Welcome to Lauren of Jammin’ in the Kitchen!

1. What is your name, blog name, and how did you create your blog title?

My name is Lauren and my blog’s name is Jammin’ in the Kitchen. I came up with the name because I love to put my pajamas on when I get home after a long day (or even a short day). I was a resident assistant in the dorms my last year of grad school, and the other RA on my floor used to tease me about how often I’d say I was going to head back to my room and put my jammies on. My husband is a Bob Marley fan, so I thought of his song “Jammin’” and combined that with my “jammies” to describe the fun I have in the kitchen.

2. What’s one goal you’re working towards right now (career, personal, health)?

I just got a new full-time job after almost 8 months of searching! I was working part-time during my search, so I am excited and thankful to have accomplished this goal. Otherwise, I am trying to stick to my goal of getting up early to exercise every morning before I leave for work. It means getting up at 5 a.m. but it is so worth it for the stress relief and energy it gives me to make healthy choices the rest of the day.

3. If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Chocolate! :)

4. How would you describe your blogging style?

My blogging style is pretty sporadic. I enjoy it but now that I am working full-time, it’s hard to squeeze it in more than once a week! I like to find recipes and give them a healthy twist, if they’re not already healthy, so I have fun blogging about those kitchen experiments. I’m a sucker for quizzes and ask-me questions, too!

5. What is your tagline and why?

“I like to cook. In my jammies.” It’s pretty self-explanatory – if I’m cooking, 99% of the time I’ll be in my jammies at home.

6. What is something you’ve learned recently that you found interesting?

I just finished taking a cooking class and learned some great tips for cutting and peeling different fruits and veggies, as well as knife handling skills. It’s greatly improved my prep time in the kitchen!

7. Do you have days when you just don’t feel like eating healthy, cooking, or exercising?

I was in seminary for three years with plans to become an ordained minister. That didn’t work out, but I finished my Master’s degree anyway and am proud of it!
