Hey HLBers!
We’ve been working away at making some adjustments in some behind-the-scenes HLB work. One thing that you may be glad to hear, is that when we asked, you spoke and we listened. Some of you had some great suggestions for upcoming Series Posts topics, and we can’t wait to see what you all have to write about them!
One suggestion that really struck us was the suggestion to maybe not do so many posts each day (thanks, Adrienne!). Adrienne said it best when she said, “Sometimes it seems like there are too many posts and I feel like I may miss out since my online time is limited.” That was very impactful when I read it and I made a connection – if I feel like I’m scrambling to get all these posts up and I don’t even have time to read them, maybe others are struggling to read the posts, too! We’re all busy people! So, now HLB Series Posts will go up once a day and our Friday Features will take place three times every Friday.
Now for the real exciting stuff: new badges! A lot of you guys are really excited about HLB and want to spread the love with HLB badges on your own sites. We love that! Unfortunately we had some problems initially, but with the awesome Nadia making us new badges and the kind Kim hooking us up with the know-how of creating proper HTML, (plus a couple hours of us “learning as we go”) we are back in business! Not only that, but it’s better than ever – we have three badge sizes you can choose from!

All you have to do is pick which badge you want (small, medium, or large) and then copy the entirety of the html below the badge. I tested things out and things should be working well, but if you run into any problems, feel free to tweet or email us and we’ll get to it as soon as we can!

Thank you for the badge, it’s now up on my blog! One thing you should know though is that this probably will not work for anyone viewing this post on Google Reader as Reader stylizes the quotation marks in the url into something that doesn’t register. Anyone having problems should simply delete each quotation mark and replace it with another, the one your keyboard will make is the right one. Thank you again!
Thanks Alayna for the tip on the quotation marks! The badge wasn’t showing up at first, but after deleting and replacing them I now have the badge.

Thanks for the quotation mark tip! Just a heads up to others, I copied the badge directly from the site and still had to replace them to get the badge to show on my site correctly.

Hiya, I used to have the previous badge and it was working fine. This morning, I wanted to change for the new one but all that comes up on my blog is “This image or video has been moved or deleted”.
Can anyone help?????

Helene – I have no idea what is going on.
I think bottom line is I am just terrible at creating HTML! Hours later and still no working HTML shows that. 
I made a page detailing how to get the badge to work for your blog. It’s a little more complicated, but it seems to work every time.

I added to my blog! Just FYI for other readers – I had to remove all quotation marks for it to work.
I am blogging with blogger and can’t seem to get the badge working. But I’m not that tech savvy so not sure if it is my fault.
I have removed quotation marks… didn’t work, I have put it in a blog post then copied the html..this worked but then i couldn’t link the image to HBL…so it was just an image on my site. I tried to enter the html direct into my html gadget…and no luck.
Any ideas from other blogger users?

I got it to work. Just had to do the quotation removal and not delete any other parts. Did the trick
Yeah, it’s now working!!!!! Finally! I deleted the qutation marks.

The badges look great!
One other suggestion I would love to see is blog listed by “type” not just location. I know that means putting a label on things which I don’t always like, but it would also help those find a specific topic easier.

Hey Carolyn,
This has been on our radar and our list of projects for a little while actually! Hopefully before the end of 2010 we can find time to get this organized! It’ll be another huge undertaking though, as we’ll have to go back and contact all 1000+ members to see what they want to be listed under, then create the pages/ way to organize, list everyone, etc. But we are planning on doing it!
