Welcome to Cami from Health & Happiness!

1. What is your name, blog name, and how did you come up with your blog title?

My name is Cami Hamann, and I am the blogger behind Health & Happiness. Before the blog was created, I was just emailing healthy tips to my family and friends. I found out that they were then forwarding my emails to all of their friends, and then someone encouraged me to start a blog. The title of my emails was always “Health & Happiness” so it just made sense to continue with that title. I chose “Health & Happiness” because I truly believe that if you are healthy in your mind, body and spirit, then you will be happy too. When you are happy, it is easy to be kind to your body, and, as a result, you are healthy! It’s a continuous circle. Health & Happiness go hand in hand and that is what I want people to know when they hear that title. I want my readers to be BOTH healthy and happy!

2. What’s one goal you’re working towards right now (career, personal, health)?

On the health front, my current goal is to cook more at home instead of eating out or eating pre-packaged foods. Even though it’s a healthy, organic, frozen veggie burger, I’m trying to start just making my own veggie burgers and freezing them!

Career wise, I just completed my Masters in Accounting, and I’m currently studying to obtain my Certified Professional Accountant (CPA) License. It’s a series of 4 exams that has taken me all summer to complete, only 1 more left! So my goal right now is to pass this last exam!

3. If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Do I really have to choose?! Okay, it was a close tie between cereal (the healthy kind like homemade granola, not the sugary stuff) and a banana with any nut butter. BUT I think banana with any nut butter wins.

A banana with any nut butter is a classic snack. And you can take it with you anywhere unlike cereal. I recently discovered these amazing single serving nut butter packets that come in variety of flavors (I mention them in my most recent blog post), and they are a life saver! With the banana you have your fruit, carbs, and some sweetness and with the nut butter you have your healthy fats and saltiness. It’s close to perfect… if only I could find a way to fit a green in there somewhere. Any ideas?

4. How would you describe your blogging style?

I think my blogging style is very casual and conversational. I write just as if I was talking to someone face to face. I really try to appeal to all audiences. I want to make it interesting to read for those that are educated about health and fitness, but mostly for those that are not. I want to make the idea of living healthy lifestyle less intimidating for those that are overwhelmed by the abundance of information and resources out there. I hope to make health a fun and exciting adventure through my blog.

5. What is your tagline and why?

The tagline on my blog is “Healthy is Sexy!” We all know we want to be sexy right?? But, the media and celebrities try to make us think that being sexy is all about your image on the outside like being thin and tan. But in my opinion, it’s what’s on the inside that matters the most. If you are healthy in your mind, body, and spirit, then you are sexy! If you are healthy then you are happy and that is sexy!

I also LOVE the lululemon tagline “Sweat Once a Day.” Sweating is like medicine.

6. What is something you’ve learned recently that you found interesting?

I was recently reminded of the many health benefits of drinking lemon water while watching Jackie Warner’s new show, Thintervention. Not only does it help speed up your metabolism and burn calories, but it acts as a detoxifier, aids in digestion, and much more!

7. What is something about you that would shock us?

A couple of things actually!

First, I grew up eating fast food almost every night, TV dinners, or cereal. Very rarely did my family cook and sit down at the table for dinner. We were always on the go with sporting events so it was just easy to grab McDonald’s on the way home. So it is kind of shocking that given my childhood, that I am now blogging about living a healthy lifestyle and also getting my family on board with eating healthy.

Another shocking fact, is that I have found my true passion in life after spending 5 years getting my degree and Masters in Accounting and 6 months studying and taking the CPA exams. I would love to be a Health and Nutrition Consultant one of these days. Maybe a Corporate Health Consultant?!? However, I truly believe that there is a reason why I am on this path because if I wouldn’t have been going down this road then I might not have realized my passion. I’m very excited to start my career as an Auditor, but maybe one day I can be out there helping others to be healthier and happier!
